What is the objective of the game?

When playing in DUO mode, you try to score more points than your opponent. When playing SOLO, you try to gain as high a score as possible, but this mode is also a great way to practise the game.

How does the game work?

In the game, you try to make as many words as possible both horizontally and vertically with 2, 3, 4 or 5 letters. The more words you manage to form, the higher your score. It is simple to play. You choose a letter. You slide this letter into position to form the word you are planning to make.

What are the differences between DUO and SOLO?

SOLO: in this mode, you play against the device with which you are playing. First, you play a letter and you subsequently choose a letter from the three you are automatically presented with.
DUO: in this mode, you can opt to play against someone you do not know, a random player or against a person you do know. A person known to you will be shown in the list of players’ names of those you have previously played against or you enter the name of a friend or colleague manually. You do need to know your friend or colleague’s player name.
So challenge your friend or colleague to a game and ask for their player name!

How to play DUO?

You select an opponent. You play a letter in an empty space. Your opponent receives your letter and plays this in his game too. Now your opponent plays a new letter. Your opponent’s letter appears at the top of your game. You play your opponent’s letter in your game. You try to form as many words as possible and, in doing so, score points. You can delete or exchange a letter. The same letter is then deleted or exchanged in your opponent’s game. It is even more exciting to play with a time limit! If you are too slow playing a letter, the game will play it at random for you.

How is the score calculated?

The rules of the game work as follows:
1. Each letter has a letter value that is counted in the score.
2. Only horizontal and vertical words count.
3. All two, three, four and five letter words are counted in each row.
4. Every complete word is multiplied by the number of letters.
5. All the points scored are totted up to arrive at the total score.

Example

You make the word T-O-W-E-D. Letter values: T=1, O=1, W=4, E=1, D=2,

Then you score the following points:

TO = (1+1) * 2 = 4
TOW = (1+1+4) * 3 = 18
TOWED = (1+1+4+1+2) * 5 = 45
OW = (1+4) * 2 = 10
OWE = (1+4+1) * 3 = 18
OWED = (1+4+1+2) * 4 = 32
WE = (4+1) * 2 = 10
WED = (4+1+2) * 3 = 21
ED = (1+2) * 2 = 6

The total score is: 200

Why does XaXaX not allow some of my words?

XaXaX uses the TaalTik dictionary. This list is refreshed every month.

How does the little bomb work?

If you have an eraser, you can remove a letter from the board. When it is your turn, you can tap on a space with a letter. This will reveal two options: erase or exchange. If you choose erase, the letter will be removed, and so will your opponent’s. Now it is your opponent’s turn.

How does the exchange work?

If you have an exchange, you can swap a letter on the board for another. When it is your turn, you can tap on a space with a letter. This will reveal two options: a little bomb and an exchange. Select exchange and an alphabet panel will appear. Select the letter you would like in the chosen space. The letter will appear in the selected space, the same will happen for your opponent. Now it is your opponent’s turn.
